Some shade in the badlands...
Shade trees are a welcome site in the rugged badlands.
Rattle snake
A rattle snake in a dried up pond. While rattle snakes are poisonous, they rarely bite humans that are not messing with them and instead rattle their tail to warm humans not to come any closer.
Rattlesnake!!
Listen for the rattle!! Rattlesnakes are a fairly common site in the badlands.

Hognose snake
Hognose snakes are a very rare sighting in the North Dakota badlands. These snakes have a variety of defense mechanisms to deter predators including inflating their necks and rolling over and playing dead.

Volunteers stumbled across this falcon on their way to the Turtle Ridge locality.
